Medical Students

Olive View-UCLA Medical Center is a core clinical training site for the psychiatry clerkship for third-year medical students at the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) at UCLA. Fourth-year UCLA medical students can elect to rotate with us at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center by enrolling in the Emergency Psychiatry and/or Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry courses in the DGSOM course catalog.

Applications for visiting fourth-year medical student sub-internship rotations are handled directly through the David Geffen Medical School at UCLA’s office for visiting students, using the VSLO (Visiting Student Learning Opportunity) program. Please review requirements for each rotation as specified on UCLA’s website: https://medschool.ucla.edu/current-visiting-students

Please note that though our faculty and residents are always glad to contribute to the education of the students who are placed on our clinical services, our residency program has no involvement in the process of reviewing or accepting visiting fourth-year medical students for sub-internships or elective rotations.

We are also very mindful that not every student is able to access the considerable financial resources (for travel, housing, etc.) that are needed for a visiting rotation, and understand that because of this, a visiting rotation experience is not within feasible reach for all students who might have interest. As such, simply being signed up for a visiting rotation does not affect invitations to interview for our training program.
