Application Process
We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We plan to match seven PGY-1 positions for the 2025-2026 academic year.
For consideration for an invitation to interview with our program, your ERAS application must include at least three letters of recommendation (four letters are preferred), your medical school’s Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE), your personal statement, and your USMLE Step 1 result (and, if available, your USMLE Step 2CK result).
Please note that only applicants who are currently in medical school or who have graduated from medical school within the past 3 years will be considered for an interview and that we are unable to sponsor work visas in our training program. Also, only those applicants who will be eligible for medical licensure in California will be considered.
Applicants who meet the criteria above and who have submitted the required materials on ERAS will be sent an email with a link to a survey that will request a brief answer (no more than 150 words) to the following question:
“Why is the UCLA-Olive View Psychiatry Residency Training Program specifically appealing to you?”
After our program receives your completed survey, your application will be considered to be complete and will then be reviewed for consideration for an interview invitation, so we encourage applicants to submit the survey as early as possible.
The survey deadline is October 2, 2024.
We plan to start sending interview invitations no earlier than October 7, 2024.
Applicants who will be invited for an interview can expect to hear from our program by December 15, 2024.
Interview Day Information
Our residency program interview day will be done virtually (on Zoom) and will include an overview of the program, formal interviews with both faculty and senior residents, and opportunities to interact informally with current interns and residents during the day.
Interview days with invited applicants will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from October through January. Each interview day will begin in the morning and conclude by 1:30 p.m. (PST).
We do not currently anticipate any open PGY-2 positions for the 2025-2026 year. Any inquiries regarding the availability of PGY-2 positions should be made directly to our Program Administrator, Andrea Mclean.
