Application Process
We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and accept applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). We plan to match seven PGY-1 positions for the 2024-2025 academic year.
For consideration for an invitation to interview with our program, your application must include at least three letters of recommendation, your medical school’s Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE), your personal statement, and your USMLE Step 1 result. Applicants who have submitted these required materials will be sent an email with a link to a survey which will request a brief answer (no more than 150 words) to the following question:
“Why is the UCLA-Olive View Psychiatry Residency Training Program specifically appealing to you?”
Once our program receives your completed survey, you will be considered for an invitation to interview, so we encourage applicants to submit the survey early. Interviews will be offered on a rolling basis, and surveys submitted after October 5, 2023, will not be considered.
Please note that only applicants who have graduated from medical school within the past 3 years will be considered for an interview and that we are unable to sponsor work visas in our training program.
Applicants who will be invited for an interview can expect to hear from our program by December 15, 2023.
If you are a medical student interested in applying for a visiting rotation, please click here.
Interview Day Information
Our residency program interview day will include an overview of the program, formal interviews with both faculty and senior residents, and opportunities to informally interact with current residents during the day.
Interview days with invited applicants will be held on Wednesdays and Thursdays from mid-October through January. Each interview day will begin in the morning and conclude by 1:30 pm (PST).
We do not currently anticipate any open PGY-2 positions for the 2023-2024 year. Any inquiries regarding the availability of PGY-2 positions should be made directly to our Program Administrator, Andrea Mclean.
